"This widow keeps bothering me"

Padre Luis read the Parable of the Persistent Widow from Luke 18 last night and then asked Kym McDaniel, Christ Church Plano's missionary to the Anglican Diocese of Peru and our handler while we're in Juliaca, to translate his homily.
Padre Luis accepts a laptop that has been donated
to the Anglican Mission of St. Mary Magdalene.

He said he chose the parable for the Gospel reading and subject of his homily because, for four years, the Anglican Mission of St. Mary Magdalene had been asking the diocese to send someone to help.

Like the widow, they kept knocking on the door until, finally, a construction mission appeared.

We are God's answer to their prayers? Can anything be more humbling?

I'll answer that question for you: Yes.

After he recognized us,Padre Luis invited his parishioners to come up and welcome us. For a full 15 minutes, one and after another, they embraced each of us in a traditional form of welcome and whispered, "Gusto," or "Muchas gracias," or and other things
I couldn't understand.

That put me in my place.
